But first, Pelvic Health.

Welcome to the Rhea Physical Therapy blog. I’m Dr. Savannah Carlson, PT, DPT, RYT, the owner and CEO of Rhea PT. I’m here to support you on your path to better pelvic health with evidence-based resources and myth-busting content. I am passionate about providing this information because in our society, pelvic health—especially pelvic health for people with vaginas—usually comes last. It is relegated to the bottom of the list, even erased completely. In day to day life, this looks like your physician telling you to “relax and drink a glass of wine,” your boss begging you to cut your maternity leave short, and your “friend” asking you when you’re going to “get your body back.” It’s articles about how to get the flattest abs, products to make your vagina “clean,” and women shaming other women on the internet. Pelvic health has been the last priority for, well, forever. That’s why our society is steeped in stigma around menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, sex, vulvas, vaginas, pubic hair, toileting, and so much more. Because not only has women’s pelvic health been the last priority, but marginalizing women has historically been the top priority. All of those myths and toxic ideas serve one purpose: to oppress people with vaginas.

This blog is about putting pelvic health FIRST. Not only is it on the list, but it is the top priority, finally.

In this blog, I’ll cover any and all topics related to pelvic health, including sexual function, bladder health, bowel health, pelvic floor dysfunction, fitness, and more. This content is for education only and should not be taken as medical advice. My aim is to arm you with information so that you can make the most optimal choices for your pelvic health and overall wellbeing. You can count on me to research my content and back it up with credible sources. I am committed to outfitting you with the best, most current information available so that you can continue on your pelvic health journey with confidence.

If you ever feel that you need more than information, I encourage you to contact a healthcare provider. A pelvic health physical therapist, midwife, or OB/GYN would be a great place to start. You can always reach out to me at hello@rheaphysicaltherapy.xyz.

Thanks for being here and committing to putting your pelvic health first.
